Position:  Senior Packaging Engineer
The Senior Packaging Engineer will serve as a packaging resource and expert as they develop, design and direct packaging equipment and materials for convenient, safe, and attractive transport of goods under a variety of conditions.  He or she will evaluate packaging procedures and transporting methods to ensure safety and compliance with quality standards. They will Review documentation and design to ensure compliance with design criteria and standards.  In addition, to meet cost and time objectives, they will schedule and coordinate major segments of complex projects.  He or she will conduct feasibility studies, determine manpower and cost estimates, and develop engineering criteria as well as lead and direct the work of other Engineers. Specific Position Responsibilities include:
  • Lead Packaging initiatives for a line of business, become integrated with the business team and anticipate issues and long term needs
  • Champion Packaging ideas for savings, innovation and quality improvements that are relevant to the business
  • Plan out project needs in terms of assumptions, timelines, milestones, hurdles and contingencies and manage the project steps accordingly, may involve cross-functional team leadership.
  • Develops and issues technical specifications for packaging components
  • Apply knowledge of own and related disciplines in problem solving efforts
  • Execute projects on time and on budget
  • Prepare and present results orally and in writing to various levels of management
  • Maintain awareness of technical developments in the field of Packaging
  • Mentoring of more junior staff and/or management of interns may be required

Position Reports To:  Manager of Packaging Development. 
 
Requirements:
Role Requires:  B.S. in Packaging Engineering, or equivalent.  Will also consider degrees in related fields (Mechanical or Chemical Engineering etc.)

Experience:  6 Plus Years experience in a Consumer Products Goods company, preferably foods.

Expected Areas of Competence: Work experience in a CPG company with solid experience in Packaging R&D in a food company as a first choice.
