DESCRIPTION - PRIMARY DUTIES:

Our Client is a Global Leader in the Medical Device - Pharmaceutical industry.  This healthcare company is dedicated to enhancing life for consumers around the world. Its core businesses include consumer care products, and ophthalmic surgical and pharmaceutical products.  Our client’s name is one of the best known and most respected healthcare brands in the world.  Continued growth has resulted in the need for a Senior Packaging Engineer to join their team.
    
Position:  Senior Packaging Engineer
The Senior Packaging Engineer will design, develop, and implement new packaging required for the company’s Healthcare, Pharmaceutical and Surgical Products. Project Management of multiple Packaging Projects. Specific attributes of the ideal candidate include:

  • Ability to work independently in Packaging Project Management. This includes management of multiple projects in multiple locations worldwide. Includes management of secondary packaging material and specification design and development.
  • Proven record of delivering multi-disciplinary projects on time and on budget.  It also includes, but is not limited to, packaging design, development, prototyping, package/product compatibility, package testing, protocols/validations, specification development, project management and timeline development and tracking.
  • Creation and execution of packaging test protocols and methods. Ability to analyze test data and present test results and conclusions that leads to the approval of packaging configurations or drives improvement of current designs.
  • Administration – project management tracking, management of project budgets, and all packaging design and development documentation. Cost estimation of packaging components and packaging systems is required.
  • Global coordination of packaging including standardization of designs for worldwide use. Development and implementation of specifications, engineered drawings, and all support documentation required for any Company product.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical, medical device or consumer packaging is necessary. This should include manufacturing scale-up of new products and new packaging.
  • Understanding of Pharmaceutical and Medical? Device regulations including documentation and reporting requirements. Experience with NDA and ANDA submissions a plus.
Reports to:  Manager of Packaging
REQUIREMENTS - IDEAL BACKGROUND:
Role Requires:  BS in Packaging Science or Engineering related discipline required. MS in Packaging or related field desired.

Experience:  7 Plus Years experience with packaging medical devices, pharmaceuticals or consumer products. Experience with secondary packaging materials and all packaging modalities including, but not limited to, labels, cartons, inserts, corrugated shippers and POP displays. Experience with primary packaging a plus. New package development, project management, and execution skills. Development of test protocols and methods. Knowledge of Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Device Regulations is required.

Special Skills:  ArtiosCad, packaging design, Microsoft products (Office, Project). Expertise with Barcode Symbology (i.e. UPC, Code-128, Data Matrix, etc.). Sustainable package design. Must be self-starter and have ability to work independently. Proven ability to manage multiple projects/activities. Must be able to handle quick turnarounds, while maintaining high quality in a fast paced environment.

Specialized Training:  ISO, cGMP & Project Management. Familiarity with Documentum and PDF-based Digital Workflows.
