Time Employee | | DESCRIPTION - PRIMARY DUTIES: | Our client is a producer of a broad line of food products
for school, foodservice, retail, vending and convenience store markets. Their products are produced from
high quality ingredients and provide unparalleled taste, convenience and value to both operators and their patrons. From
humble beginnings in 1946 when they were founded as a small family owned food business, they have grown through the years
to be over $700 million in annual sales with 4,000 plus employees! Continued growth has led to the need
for a Packaging Engineer to join their HQ, R&D team!
Position: Packaging Engineer The Packaging Engineer will design and develop primary and secondary packaging for new
and existing products to support launches with the ability to specify package materials including film, paperboard, and corrugated.
In addition, he, or she, will maintain knowledge of the developments and trends in packaging for possible
applications with the company's present and future products. Further responsibilities will be to:
- Provide effective project management through planning, organizing, coordinating projects
assigned to them and to assure required deadlines are met.
- Drive and identify
gross margin improvement projects through the optimization of primary and secondary package design / re-design.
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to support continuous improvement programs in the manufacturing processes
through the redesign of packaging components.
- Create and revise
packaging specifications, bill of materials, and pallet patterns to support manufacturing and new product initiatives.
- Understand in-house product requirements and supplier manufacturing processes including film, printing, die cutting,
and gluing of carton/corrugated to provide technical expertise for solving packaging related quality issues.
- Manage and report cost saving initiatives for packaging related projects.
They are looking for a person that is Innovative
has enacted Cost Savings, has experience Managing Projects and familiarity with Q.M.S.
initiatives. They will also need to work closely with Marketing, R&D and this position will actually report up through
the Quality area of the company.

| | REQUIREMENTS - IDEAL BACKGROUND: | Role Requires:
B.S. in Package Engineering or related Engineering Field.
Experience: 4 Plus Years of related
professional experience with a very strong preference for Consumer Foods based package development.
Essential
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of package materials such as film (barrier,
microwavable), paperboard (browning trays, folding cartons, blister cards) and decoration methods, SURP, rigid
& flexible, vertical Form Fill Seal, FDA and GM requirements. In addition, they will have knowledge
of packaging manufacturing processes and common CPG packaging equipment. Other qualifications will include: - Knowledge of corrugated
design and manufacturing.
- Software experience including Adobe, AutoCAD, TOPPS/CAPE and Microsoft office suite
- Enjoy traveling to assist in optimizing/troubleshooting
packaging processes - 30% of the time.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and still meet critical project milestones.
- Ability to present conclusions and recommendations
to management team.
- Knowledge of packaging (or related) technical procedures commonly used in a laboratory setting.
- Technical
and theoretical knowledge of packaging materials and processes.
