This company is a leading global personal care and beauty company with a proven history of delivering first-to-market beauty technologies, making the company a perennial game-changer.  With over $11 billion in annual revenue, they market their products in more than 100 countries.  Their product line includes beauty products, as well as fashion and home products, and features well-recognized brand names.  Their global team of scientists have led the industry in giving consumers breakthrough products that marry innovation and beauty.  They give women around the globe products that help them look and feel their best -- in fact, two out of five women worldwide purchased one of their products in the last year.  Continued growth has resulted in the need for a Senior Packaging Engineer to join their team. 

The Senior Packaging Engineer is responsible for the engineering and development of new, custom and innovative packaging, globally.  He, or she, will collaborate with an integral role in design projects.  This will be with respective category products, efficient manufacture representing Company global Supply Chain requirements. This role will have a primary focus on Personal Care (both Hair & Skin) products with the following responsibilities:
  • Adhere to key program initiatives such as costs, consumer usage, compatibility, simplicity of manufacture (filling) and functionality of materials with the product.
  • Work with Global Design, Supply Chain partners and outside suppliers to identify package technologies that create source documents such as Cost Investigation, Package Profile (preliminary specifications), tooling/part qualification PERTS (if applicable) and Final Package Components Specifications. Issue documents to global matrix partners.  
  • Partner closely with Global Brand Marketing to bring new product ideas to completion to meet Brand requirements for sales growth. Evaluate function and form of new global packaging components using CAD sketches and models.
  • Responsible for proper documentation of component specifications for individual packages. 
  • Responsible for QA parameters including G-pak specifications, case and cube information aesthetic samples, limit boards or panoplies, pre-production samples, ranges as well as. 
  • Participate, from time to time, in line trials to verify that product packaging is correctly filled.
  • Attend manufacturing start ups when appropriate ensure there are no problems on the lines.
Role requires a B.S. in Package Engineering or equivalent technical degree such as Mechanical or Chemical Engineering accepted with 5 plus years of related packaging experience, preferably within Personal Care and Skin Care categories.  In addition the ideal candidate will have:
  • A working knowledge of global packaging regulations and requirements.
  • Material science knowledge in plastics, glass, carton board, printing and decoration methods.
  • Project management skills with experience supervising projects/project teams.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work with diverse cultures and global associates.
  • Leadership skills with experience leading projects and project teams.
  • A knowledge of electronic specification systems preferred.
