Position: The Senior Packaging Engineer will be responsible to provide technical knowledge and leadership to identify and implement packaging programs for the company. He, or she, must be able to apply advanced methods and techniques to the design of new packaging materials and structures. Programs will range from development of new materials through optimization of existing packaging for nutritional products. Effective ability to collaborate across divisional and regional boundaries is critical to be successful. Primary job responsibilities include:
  • Identification and development of new packaging structures from concept through commercialization
  • Identifying and implementing cost optimized opportunities with existing packaging.
  • Providing technical expertise on a wide range of packaging issues; apply leadership skills to manage projects
  • Establishing organizational alignment through effective communication.
This position functionally resides in the Global Packaging Technology group, reporting directly to the Manager Packaging Technical Services. This candidate must coordinate multiple programs and be effective in working within a multidisciplinary environment. In addition, must effectively work with external partners that supply packaging commodities.
Education:  Role requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Packaging, Engineering, or related technical field

Experience:  Minimum of 5 – 8 plus years experience in technical package engineering position or related field. Successful candidate must demonstrate the following technical & leadership skills:
  • Thorough technical knowledge of a wide range of packaging materials, structures, and manufacturing processes.  (Food packing in liquids and powders highly preferred.  Experience with liquids, powders, rigid plastics and flexible films.  Some knowledge of aseptic and retort will be desirable as well.)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple global projects
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to effectively interface with broad global cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Experience in food packaging is strongly preferred.
