DESCRIPTION - DUTIES

Position:  The Manager of Packaging Development will serve as a mentor to Engineers and Designers as a leader of a small team and will oversee the completion of new packaging development projects related to new packaging designs and redesign of existing packaging for NPDP and sustaining product. The team will also support the packaging for Patient Specific Solutions


Responsibilities:

·        Direct and manage the workflow of engineers within the scope of assigned projects. *Demonstrate effective supervisory skills

·        Oversee technical teams to ensure project plans adhere to agreed upon timelines and are within the scope of QMS procedures

·        Formulate/communicate divisional strategy for divisional Packaging.

·        Mentor and participate on cross-functional improvement teams to enhance quality of products/processes and address design issues

·        Mentor other engineers in project management best practices and industry trends

·        Manage team resource planning and allocation

·        Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback. Create professional development programs to enhance employee growth opportunities and output

·        Oversee team metrics and objectives that ensure business unit goals are met and surpassed

·        Orchestrate compliance with corporate packaging projects

REQUIREMENTS - BACKGROUND

Education:  A Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Science, or a related field of study is required. A Master’s degree in a technical or management discipline is preferred.


Experience:  Requires Candidates should have 5-10 years of product and/or packaging design experience in the medical device or related industry and 3 or more years of experience managing a team of direct reports.


Skills and Experiences:

  • Demonstrated ability to apply design controls & risk management techniques within a regulated industry
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve work objectives both independently and as a leader of a work team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop employees
  • Knowledge of RA/QA/GMP requirements for devices and packaging
