DESCRIPTION - DUTIES

Company Overview:  This company is a privately held, family owned food company has been in operation since 1933. It is a market leader and innovator in shelf stable food products. Continued growth has resulted in the need for this position.


Position:  Lead, direct, and coordinate development and optimization activities of packaging processes across all company plants while building consensus among project participants and motivating them to achieve innovative and high-impact solutions.


Responsibilities:

1.      Represent the Engineering group with a high degree of autonomy in interfacing closely with internal and external customers.

2.      Accountable for supporting operations at the process by monitoring the performance of assigned processes and responding to requests for support. Investigating and resolving problems and issues inhibiting the performance of packaging processes and products. Plan and implement test requests on the lines as needed.

3.      Lead the resolution of packaging and processing issues involving profitability, capacity, product quality, and safety to expand competitive advantage, increase profitability, and enhance quality and safety. 

4.      Maintain knowledge of new equipment, materials, and packages to improve cost, quality, and performance of packaging ensuring “Best Practices” are utilized across the organization.

5.      Provide overall leadership or support of capital improvement projects including the development of project requirements, project justification, equipment flow sheets and process line layouts.  Accountable for new equipment startup, operator training, written operating procedures and specifications, and conformance to project justification criteria. 

6.      Responsible for timely and effective communication of project activities to superiors and to internal customers, including Department and Facility Managers, Corporate Marketing, and project team.  

REQUIREMENTS - BACKGROUND

Education:  BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Packaging with equipment experience


Experience:  Requires a minimum of seven years of experience in demonstrating mastery of packaging skills including packaging optimization, and project management.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project Management software.
  • Emphasis and experience in packaging processes, equipment, materials, and project management.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
