DESCRIPTION - DUTIES

Position Summary:  The Manager, Packaging will manage a group focused on the design/plan/validation and implementation of new packaging technologies, line extensions, package/product improvement and technical service for Company that meet product offering requirements.  Additionally, develop and commercialize packaging projects within designated category(s).


Position Responsibilities:

·        Manage, mentor, coach and develop employees

·        Drive the development and commercial implementation efforts for key complex

·packaging projects along with everyday project workload

·        Work with category peers to develop and resource growth and cost savings projects

·along with being the gatekeeper for future projects

·        Lead technical expertise on cross-functional project teams and technical oversight

·of internal and external start-ups and ongoing technical services

·        Provide technical and leadership competency to manage a subset of the Packaging

·Engineer group

·        Ensure subset group’s team and efforts are focused on the right priorities and in

·synch with agreed upon business objectives

·        Supports on-going business projects, from start to finish, which includes project

·development, specifications, trials, execution and maintenance

·        Supports, coordinates and conducts trial and startup of new products

·        Develop relationships & partnerships with divisional peers to align resources

·        against the appropriate projects

REQUIREMENTS - BACKGROUND

Education:  Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging or a related technical field.


Experience:  Requires 8 years’ experience with 2 plus years directing others


Qualifications and Requirements:

·        Proven strategic leadership in technical programs and leading teams

·        Expert ability to influence project direction by providing technical input to the

·planning and decision making process

·        Proficient in providing cross-functional team leadership and technical project management

·        Broad based technical proficiency and highly evolved tactical skills.

·        Proven skills in project management, negotiation, communication, technical problem

·solving and ability to perform these skills at an advanced level or higher.

·        Solid ability to interact and collaborate with R&D groups, external resources,

·suppliers and consultants to achieve project objectives. 

·        Communicates the complex

·technical information in an easily understood format to various levels of

·management and Senior Leaders

·        Solid understanding and experience with paperboard, corrugate, film, plastics and

·glass packaging materials

·        Established track record of managing, coaching and developing employees
