Company Overview:  This company is a global developer, manufacturer, and marketer of pre-moistened wipes for the consumer market, specializing in personal care, hygiene, household cleaning, and disinfection products.

Position: The Packaging Engineer II is a critical one for the Company and organization as it enhances its innovation pipeline for private label and its branded wet wipes portfolio. The primary role of this position is to deliver innovative packaging solutions based on customer/consumer insights and market requirements. This position will also support existing businesses through packaging revisions, cost improvement projects and packaging harmonization projects. Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

·        Exploration and identification of appropriate packaging technologies to enhance innovation

·        Identify, create, and validate new packaging concepts while working in collaboration with cross functional teams including operations

·        Drive packaging initiatives from the concept stage all the way through technical validation

·        Leverage packaging expertise to generate robust packaging specifications for flexible film, labels, canisters, tubs, lids and corrugate materials

·        Identify critical to quality attributes of new packaging materials and establish acceptable ranges to include in the specification

·        Develop and transfer repeatable and reproducible test methods to support the development of new products and guide the quality team as they confirm the acceptance of production materials

·        Write trial documents and testing protocols to validate that the entire product lifecycle of the material is effective and stable

·        Evaluate and assess the performance of new concepts and prototypes with consumers and for technical, manufacturing and cost feasibility

·        Evaluate technical manufacturability and financial feasibility of new packaging innovations in collaboration with Operations teams

·        Entrepreneurial Skills: Ability to demonstrate creativity in the role, explore and deliver new and out-of-the box solutions


Education:  Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or equivalent.

Experience:  Prefer 3 or more years of relevant experience in packaging development/innovation including

·        A passion for packaging with experience in packaging and product development

·        Experience in FMCG / CPG is preferred

·        Understanding of the product development process, including management of key partners; design and engineering consultancies, toolmakers, and material converters

·        Knowledge of Packaging Engineering processes such as product life cycle, change, and an in-depth knowledge of cGMP packaging design and change management requirements

Other: US citizenship, lawful permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States


·        In-depth knowledge and understanding of packaging materials

·        Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks), Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and MS Office Suite including MS Project

·        Experience with prototyping techniques such as 3-D printing; plant/equipment experience

Skills and Abilities:

·        Demonstrable skill in executing packaging / product innovation development, and delivery of impactful business and consumer optimized structural and functional packaging / product innovations

·        Excellent communication and presentation, ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization and our suppliers

·        Strong understanding of the role of the consumer and business/brands and the ability to balance these needs alongside the rational requirements of the commercial business and technical constraints of manufacturing processes

·        Proven results with building strong customer relationships, anticipating customer needs, and delivering consumer-centric solutions.
