COMPANY – DUTIES – REQUIREMENTS

COMPANY:  Founded in 1902, this successful Packaging & Containers company has evolved very successfully!  Over the years, the company has evolved by successfully acquiring and integrating complementary businesses to become the largest company of its kind. They have three design centers in the U.S. along with 40 offices internationally, and nearly $1 billion in revenue. The company is a leading source of rigid packaging, with extensive capabilities in package design and engineering, logistics, and international sourcing. Their selection also includes the largest library of stock molds in North America, enhanced by their considerable access to global resources. When it comes to rigid packaging, they have established themselves as the undisputed industry leader.  They are well known and respected in the packaging industry, which is very stable.


DUTIES:  The Director of Supply Chain will be one of five direct reports reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain.  Each report is aligned with one product category integrating with the Divisional Executive Vice Presidents, the Regional Vice Presidents, Regional Supply Chain support, and over 180 Packaging Consultants.  This particular role will be based out of the Company’s St. Louis office and be responsible for a Product Category.  The Director will be responsible for utilizing the size and influence of Company’s relationships with over 700 suppliers to achieve the targeted cost, quality and delivery to meet our customers’ expectations and lead to continued profitable growth for the company.  Along with negotiations and supply chain strategy, the Director must bring a level of managerial and manufacturing expertise to this area to drive business to a select core vendor base with the intent to maximize gross profit while managing the vendor base to Company’s expectations.  In essence there’s a lot of opportunity here. Product Category Support - Must be categorical expert in Dispensing (ie: Pumps, Trigger Sprayers, and other dispensing units), Company serves to support insights, supply chain offerings, and support innovations lead by Design, Engineering, and Marketing including:

 

Collaboration with Design, Engineering, and Marketing:

  • Support development of product specific that support marketing insights and trends by utilizing supply chain reach and categorical knowledge
  • Alignment with Lead Generation team to drive new category growth
  • Using Consumer Centric Insights to drive new product offerings
  • Key Customer engagements to support key stakeholders

 

Supply Chain Support:

  • Project Manage strategic dispensing solutions for the company and support on technical solutions, supply solutions or other as needed in concert
  • Coordinate with Regional Sales RVP’s and other project teams to understand upcoming opportunities and identify potential sources of supply
  • Develop and maintain on-going relationships with key suppliers, and establishes effective programs and to ensure “best in class” supplier performance
  • Support Divisional Sales Leadership with identification, recommended selection, and negotiation with the new and current vendors to get the best conditions and find new alternatives of purchase
  • Resolve supply conflicts or supply shortages through engagement of various vendors and key stakeholders to deliver world class customer service
  • Effectively gather project requirements from Sales and obtain pricing from qualified sources of Supply
  • Utilize demands from division or region to develop strategic sourcing, stocking, or leveraged buy of commodities
  • Monitor external markets for commercial opportunities and challenges, identify and resolve gaps between business requirements and supplier performance and identify and resolve supply gaps Pinpoint the required resources for resolution, escalating issues as required
  • Lead the monthly Supply Review meetings with stakeholders to ensure plan is balanced, achieves expectations, identifies future opportunities, and communicate supply chain programs
  • Support Sales and Quality teams in quality negotiations

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in engineering management or supply chain management with an MBA being preferred.

5-8 years of relevant experience in.

  • Using the ERP system identify categories of cost saving opportunities by region, office location or packaging consultant and assist in implementation
  • Packaging manufacturing or production in terms of materials, processes, and/or equipment related experience of five plus years is required
  • Provide proactive supply chain reviews to coincide with overall Company supply chain strategy
  • Understand capacity opportunities with the vendor base  while development and monitoring vendor performance expectations
  • A Strong working knowledge of all MSFT Suite products that include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to demonstrate cultural fit with the company
  • Expert negotiation skills with proven ability to produce results
  • Ability to focus on satisfying internal customer requirements and obtaining and responding to internal customer feedback
  • Demonstrated self-initiative, decision-making skills, and project management skills
  • Mentor others to develop their skills and share best practices across organization
