JOB DESCRIPTION The Senior Manager, Packaging Development Engineering will provide leadership in the
design, development and implementation of cost- effective packaging across all assigned product lines. In addition,
he or she, will define, develop, lead and implement packaging designs across product lines in collaboration with the product
development teams. New designs must meet product design requirements including labeling and sterilization. Additional
responsibilities will include: - Leading all aspects of packaging
engineering activities related to new product development
- Working directly with R&D Managers,
Process Engineering Managers, and Product Managers to develop new packaging designs that are efficient and still
meet aggressive time line requirements
- Providing continuous engineering support for packaging on existing
products
- Designing package components and develops packaging systems for new and existing medical
device products
- Coordinating with Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance the requirements for
package inserts, Q.C. procedures, testing for packages and/or packaging materials, labeling for IDE submissions,
etc.
- Reviewing and approving all packaging/labeling specifications and other user documentation.
- Mentoring and developing junior packaging engineering staff and technicians
- Providing
leadership by aligning all packaging activity to the Company’s priorities and be the focal point in implementing
changes
- Supporting Operations in optimizing packaging related equipment and processes in company
manufacturing facilities
- Working with suppliers to optimize packaging design and processes; detail and
validate changes under the internal quality system
- Attending technical reviews with multi-functional
leadership and development teams to provide recommendation on effective packaging/labeling solutions
- Requires
in-depth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in own subject area and basic knowledge of other
subject areas.
- Applies understanding of the business and how own area contributes to the achievement
of business objectives.
- Manages a generally homogeneous team of engineers and/or supervisors; adapts
plans and priorities to meet service and/or operational challenges.
- Identifies and resolves technical,
operational and organizational problems
- Performing other duties as they may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering
or Packaging Sciences (BS, BA, or MS)
Experience: Minimum of 5 -7 years of packaging related experience within
Medical Devices, Biologics, or Pharmaceutical Industry. 3 years minimum of management experience of direct / indirect
management required. Licenses/Certifications: CPP
and Six sigma certification preferred
